Here we are documenting the progress of our renewable energy generating facility
October 2009
Anagest has signed an agreement with organic waste solutions provider, TEG, to develop a co-located AD and in-vessel composting (IVC) facility at the site.
Subject to funding, planning and Board approval from both companies, Anagest and TEG plan to develop the site into one of the most advanced organic waste treatment facilities in the UK. The AD facility will process food waste along with energy crops grown on adjacent land as feedstock for the AD plant. Co-located IVC capacity, using TEG's own IVC technology will ensure that the facility offers cost-effective landfill diversion for materials, such as biobags and green waste, which are less suitable as AD feedstock. If all approvals proceed as planned, work on the site should start early in 2010.
December 2008
Planning Permission Granted
Planning permission has been granted for our renewable energy plant at Stormydown. Bridgend County Council has given careful consideration to our proposals, weighing up the evidence supplied in our environmental impact statement with the concerns of some local residents which we were able satisfy.
October 2008
We are pleased to be named as the winners of the 2008 Wales Business & Sustainability Awards.

" [Cenin] has demonstrated considerable achievement in improving Wales’ environmental and sustainability credentials. The judges had an incredibly difficult job in drawing up the list of finalists and many an excellent example did not make it to the shortlist" said Peter Davies, Independent Chair of Judges, Sustainable Development Commissioner for Wales, UK Sustainable Development Commission.
August 2008
We have made a presentation to local residents concerned about the impact of our planned Anaerobic Digestion plant which will create the bio gas used to provide power to our new plant. Although skeptical at first local residents were reassured that there will be little or no adverse effect upon them by the development of this facility. In fact our 'green' credentials were commended by background and contextual information regarding how our plant will help to meet renewable energy targets in Wales.
July 2008
We are in the final stages of the design process for our renewable energy plant and a planning application is being prepared ready for submission in July. Read more about our Anaerobic Digestion plant and plans to covert food manufacturing by-products into renewable energy
June 2008: Renewable Energy Plant:
Detailed plans drawn-up for our site at Stormydown, Bridgend
Prior consultation with local residents and Bridgend Council as the local planning authority will take place to keep eveyone informed about the proposals and to clear any misunderstandings about what activities are taking place on site.

Anagest is a new company based at Stormy Down near Bridgend which aims to generate a low carbon energy source from manufacturing by-products and the farming industry. It is a partnership between Cenin Cement Ltd a manufacturer of ultra low carbon cement replacements and R & L Anthony, an environmental award winning, family run farming business based on the Tythegston Estate.

The nutrients within the rich organic digestate which are a by-product of the anaerobic digestion process are in a form more available to crops than any manure initially entering the system. This will be spread on farmland managed by R & L Anthony, reducing the need to purchase inorganic fertilizers, minimising the smell from manure spreading and will reduce the risk of land and water pollution from chemical fertilisers and pathogenic organisms. Producing energy out of the agricultural products they grow and making better use out of their livestock manure, R & L Anthony will be able to maintain their high standards of environmental stewardship and conservation work.
