Planning Permission Granted
Planning permission has recently been granted for our renewable energy plant at Stormydown. Bridgend County Council has given careful consideration to our proposals, weighing up the evidence supplied in our environmental impact statement with the concerns of some local residents which we were able satisfy.
Additionally permission for our cement production plant's external material storage silos has also been granted. These will allow us to streamline our prouduction process by maintaining a steady supply of industrial by-products which we will be recycling into cement replacemets.

Renewable Energy Plant:
Detailed plans for our renewable energy plant at Stormydown have now been laid before the Planning Committee at Bridgend Council and are now under consideration.
Here is an artists impression of the new AD Plant that features in the environmental impact assessment which has been circulated to local residents for consultation.

We are pleased to be named as the winners of the 2008 Wales Business & Sustainability Awards.

" [Cenin] has demonstrated considerable achievement in improving Wales’ environmental and sustainability credentials. The judges had an incredibly difficult job in drawing up the list of finalists and many an excellent example did not make it to the shortlist" said Peter Davies, Independent Chair of Judges, Sustainable Development Commissioner for Wales, UK Sustainable Development Commission.
He commented further " Deciding on the winners was even more daunting and there was a great deal of deliberation. The winners can feel justly proud that they are exemplars in demonstrating best practice in business and sustainability."
The judging panel also said "The new technologies developed by the company are innovative and could have a revolutionary effect on building supplies and their environmental impact. The company directors have invested heavily in the business and staff commitment to the company and their products are indisputable."

We have made a presentation to local residents concerned about the impact of our planned Anaerobic Digestion plant which will create the bio gas used to provide power to our new plant. Although skeptical at first local residents were reassured that there will be little or no adverse effect upon them by the development of this facility. In fact our 'green' credentials were commended by background and contextual information regarding how our plant will help to meet renewable energy targets in Wales.

We are in the final stages of the design process for our renewable energy plant and a planning application is being prepared ready for submission in July.
Below is an artists impression of the new AD Plant that features in the environmental impact assessment which is being circulated to local residents as part of our local consultation exercise. Our aim is to keep eveyone informed about our proposals.
After years of research and small batch testing commecrcial bulk deliveries are now being loaded out of our phase 1 plant (Pictured below)

June 2008: Renewable Energy Plant: Detailed plans being drawn-up for our site at Stormydown, Bridgend
Prior consultation with local residents and Bridgend Council as the local planning authority will take place to keep eveyone informed about the proposals and to clear any misunderstandings about what activities are taking place on site.
Our energy plant is a completely separate and independant development from the proposed windfarm:
Renewable Energy Partnerships Ltd, an independent windfarm developer, are developing the wind farm on land adjoining our site: http://www.newtondownwindfarm.co.uk Wind Power offers a solution to meet the energy needs of our low carbon manufacturing process. Should this independent project be given the go ahead both companies are keen to pursue a supply arrangement from the windfarm to supplement the Bio gas plant on site.
Cenin has recycled an old aircraft hanger on a former aerodrome site. We are adapting this old building to recycle industrial by-products into cement replacements which will help to reduce carbon emissions.

Our Recycled premises are at
Stormydown, Bridgend. Read more about our new location.

Cenin wins FIRST PRIZE:
Best Presentation at the Global Slag Conference
We are pleased to announce that our technical paper and presentation was awarded 'best presentation' at the recent Global Slag Conference in Istanbul Turkey. Papers were presented to an audience of 140 delegates from 31 countries and ours was singled out from 11 other technical papers AND AWARDED FIRST PRIZE.

Global Slag Conference
We presented a paper at the Global Slag Conference in Istanbul, Turkey. Download a PDF version of our presentation (4.5mb) or the technical paper (PDF). We explained how our technology significantly improves the performance and potential of slag cement and how we are significantly reducing the carbon emissions arising from cement production.

Plant erection underway
Progress continues on our trial production facility at Stormy Down. All the necessary equipment for the first phase plant has been secured and the erection of the plant is underway.

Patent Approval
After fifteen years of detailed research and thorough testing the patent for our Celtic Cement Technology process was granted 29th August 2007, patent number GB2401104. The patent was applied for on 29th April 2003 and since that date we have been working on perfecting the process and applying it to a commercial scale enviromnent. Further testing on a diverse range of industrial waste materials has taken place in the meantime with fantastic cementatious properties being achieved.

Development plans are progressing for our first
cement replacement manufacturing facility. Utilising the patented
technology developed by our technology arm Celtic
Cement Technology,
we are building a fifth scale manufacturing plant which will act
as a proof of concept facility on a realistic commercial scale.
By utilising Celtic Cement technology and harnessing the power
generated from our own Biogas plant we will be manufacturing a
cement replacement product on our own site by April 2008.
Cenin will be the first manufacturing unit to produce a cement replacement from industrial by-products using 100% renewable energy.
