Renewable Energy Plant

Our renewable energy plant has now been awarded planning permission and will be operational late in 2009.

Below is an artists impression of the new AD Plant which is located on land adjacent to Stormy Down

After years of research and small batch testing commecrcial bulk deliveries are now being loaded out of our phase 1 plant (Pictured below)

Our first phase plant is up and running with bulk shipments of cement replacements being shipped.

Our on site cement chemistry testing facilities are analysing the results of these initial trials to determine the quality of the product we can potentially produce.

We are in the final stages of the design process for our renewable energy plant and a planning application is being prepared ready for submission in July.

March 2008
Cenin Cement has moved into its new premises at Stormy Down.

Cenin has recycled an old aircraft hanger on a former aerodrome site. We are adapting this old building to recycle industrial by-products into cement replacements which will help to reduce carbon emissions.

recycling in Wales

The first phase of our move has seen as a priority the establisment of our extensive testing and research facilities, followed by our accounts department and also our trial production facilities.

At Stormy Down we are also developing a small business park for local small and medium sized enterprises primarily involved in recycling, remanufacturing and pioneering low carbon enterprises.

The site is anchored by our own cement replacement manufacturing facility and there are opportunities for suitable SME's that wish to develop their business in a low carbon environment utilising our renewable energy sources.

The site will eventually be powered completely by renewable energy sources. The site will have its own energy centre featuring a Bio gas turbine which is supplied with gas from an off-site facility.

If the neighbouring Newton Down Windfarm goes ahead it is planned that a negotiated arrangement will be established to supply the park with clean and renewable electricity .

Phase 2 will involve the construction of the energy centre and a small visitors centre by the Autumn of 2008. Sites will then be made available to other tenants.

Further developments (subject to further detailed study) will include the recycling of rainwater for on-site use, the channeling of site sewage to the biogas plant and the addition of solar power for heating/cooling of buildings.
