At Stormydown alongside our low carbon cement replacement manufacturing facility we are developing a small business park for local small and medium sized enterprises primarily involved in recycling, remanufacturing and pioneering low carbon enterprises.
The site is anchored by our own cement replacement manufacturing facility together with a waste handling and processing facility which will provide materials for our biogas plant thanks to our partnership with TEG . There are opportunities for suitable SME's that wish to develop their business in a low carbon environment utilising our renewable energy sources.
The site forms part of the former Stormy Down Airfield situated within easy reach of the M4 motorway at junction 37 just off the A48 between Port Talbot and Bridgend in South Wales. Cardiff, the capital city of Wales, is less than 30 minutes drive time away and Swansea is even closer with a drive time of less than 20 minutes.
The site will eventually be powered completely by renewable energy sources and have its own energy centre featuring bio-gas turbines which are supplied with bio-gas from an off-site Anaerobic Digestion plant. The AD plant has recently been awarded planning permission and is programmed for completeion late in 2010. A partnership has been developed with the TEG group to develop part of the site into a food waste reception and recycling facility. This will be supplying the AD plant and features an In Vessel Composting (IVC) system to create a rich organic compost.
A new wind farm on adjacent farmland is also proposed with the potential to supply the site with clean renewable electricity.
Further Development
Further development plans will include the recycling of rainwater for on-site use and the addition of solar power for heating/cooling of buildings.
Sites are being made available to other tenants, particularly in the open storage, recycling or concrete products businesses.
Availability
Secure surfaced storage land from one quarter of an acre up to 9 acres will be available on flexible leasing arrangements. Further details on application.
